Pivot Sniper Method

Every pivot looks the same on the chart. They are not the same trade.

The idea

A 0–100 score printed on every signal, four stop models, three targets, break-even — and a dashboard that shows which component earned the score.

What it does

An open-source pivot-reversal engine that refuses to treat every confirmed pivot as equal. Each confirmed pivot high or low is scored 0–100 across five components — pivot distance, wick quality, confirmation candle, volume participation and trend alignment — then filtered by directional bias, trading session and cooldown. Accepted signals print BUY or SELL with the score in the label and open one tracked trade: Entry at the confirmation close, one of four stop models, independently adjustable TP1 / TP2 / TP3, and SL → break-even after TP1 or TP2.

A pivot low is just a candle lower than its neighbours. Two of them can look identical and behave nothing alike: one has a deep rejection wick, elevated volume and a strong confirmation candle in the direction of the trend, the other has none of that. A pivot marker gives them the same shape, which is why pivot trading turns into discretion — you end up deciding by feel which swing points deserve risk.

Pivot Sniper Method scores them instead. Pivot highs and lows are confirmed with independent left and right bar counts, and simultaneous high/low confirmation is rejected outright. Each surviving candidate is measured on five components worth 20 points each: how far the confirmation close sits from the pivot in ATR, the rejection wick on the original pivot candle, the body and direction of the confirmation candle, volume against its average, and price/EMA trend alignment. The sum is the Signal Strength printed under the BUY or SELL label, gated by a minimum you set (default 55).

Then the trade gets defined. Entry is the confirmation candle's close. The stop comes from one of four models — ATR, pivot level, pivot plus an ATR buffer, or the signal candle — with an automatic ATR fallback whenever the structural stop lands on the wrong side of entry. That Entry-to-stop distance is 1R, and TP1, TP2 and TP3 are independently adjustable multiples of it. Break-even can move the stop to entry after TP1 or TP2, with an optional favourable tick offset, and the entry visual is removed so only BE remains. Session filtering (London, New York, both, or custom with a timezone) applies to new entries only, and the dashboard breaks out every score component alongside trades, win rate, net R, average R and TP hit rates. Independent pivot settings

Left and right bar counts set separately for pivot highs and pivot lows (default 10/10), so highs and lows can be read with different sensitivity.

Five-part strength score

Pivot distance in ATR, rejection wick on the pivot candle, confirmation-candle body and direction, volume vs its average, and price/EMA trend alignment — 20 points each, capped at 100.

Score gate + label

A minimum strength (default 55) filters candidates, and the accepted score prints on the second line of the BUY / SELL label.

Bias, session and cooldown

Bullish / Bearish / Both, session filtering for London, New York, both or a custom window with timezone, and a bar cooldown between signals. Same-bar high+low confirmation is rejected.

Four stop models

ATR × multiplier, the confirmed pivot level, pivot plus an ATR buffer, or the signal candle — validated, with ATR used as a fallback when the structural stop is invalid.

Independent R targets

TP1, TP2 and TP3 are each set in R from the actual Entry-to-stop distance (defaults 1R / 2R / 3R); TP3 closes the tracked trade.

Break-even handling

Stop moves to Entry after TP1 or TP2 with an optional favourable tick offset, applied from the next candle — and the Entry line and label are removed so only BE shows.

Component dashboard

State, signal and strength, status and session, stop mode, entry and stop, TP scale and live R, trades, win rate, net R, average R, TP hit rates, and the T / V / W / C / P component breakdown — plus a compact phone layout.

How to use it

From a blank chart to a read

  1. Add Pivot Sniper Method to a standard candlestick chart.
  2. Start with symmetrical 10/10 pivot settings and watch how right-side bars delay confirmation.
  3. Keep Trend Bias on Both and All Sessions while you study raw signal behaviour.
  4. Leave minimum strength at 55, then compare frequency at 45 and 65.
  5. Read the score under each label, and the T / V / W / C / P breakdown in the dashboard.
  6. Compare the four stop models on your market before committing to one.
  7. Keep TP1 < TP2 < TP3 — the inputs are independent, so the order is your responsibility.
  8. Decide whether break-even at TP1 or TP2 suits how far your market usually runs.
